COMMUNITY HOUSING

Living Systems are cultural as much as they are biological or ecological. This affordable housing project, sponsored by the Community Land Trust of West Marin (CLAM) and managed by Eden Housing, Inc., involves the rehabilitation of a former Coast Guard housing facility in Point Reyes  Station, CA into something with regional and cultural benefit. Through extensive analysis of place and a series of community outreach meetings, it was determined that in addition to ZNE farmworker housing, the program would expand to include an Education and Resilience Center. This facility would host after school nature education programs, adult learning, childcare, tool lending, dry good storage, and provide back up solar generated power to the entire site. This additional program provides vital social and community services that allow this project to realize it’s potential as a source of stability and resilience for this region. The project is currently in CEQA review and scheduled to complete sometime in 2026.
