COMMUNITY RE-IMAGINED
The built environment is facing new and unprecedented challenges. Everything that has been built, however, can be rebuilt in better harmony with its context. In this interdisciplinary and collaborative RFP to re-imagine an economic development model for the city of Columbus, IN, Integrative Designs was on the project management team hoping to bring regenerative thinking to a downtown revitalization. The core of the proposal was around redefining civic engagement, and creating learning ‘labs’ that allowed the needs of this community to evolve and grow over time; all in the context of this particular ecological niche. Growth without consideration of social needs and environmental precedent is old-world thinking, and our team brought a mindset of active engagement and natural restoration as a backbone of economic recovery in the post-covid era.
